In the words of my husband, you never hear about the planes that land safely, only the ones that crash. So on those rare occasions when you do get good news, it needs to be shared.  Two Utica police officers, Shannon Acquaviva-Vinque and Michael Firley, were recognized for doing what they do every day.

Utica Police Chief Mark Williams received a letter from a man involved in an accident earlier this month who wanted to thank both 2 officers.

The man was stopped at a red light, on his motorcycle, when he was hit, pinning his leg underneath the vehicle. In the letter he described how Officer Firley (Hercules) lifted the car off his leg. He further credits Officer Acquaviva- Cinque for taking command of the scene. Read his words:

The accident scene photo tells the story. It could have been A LOT worse.

It may have just been another day on the job for these two officers but it was a day the accident victim won't soon forget.
