Performing the national anthem at the Super Bowl or any sporting event is always a nerve-wracking task, since pop stars tend to flub the lines with regularity. Maybe it's nerves. Maybe it's the pressure and being on such a national stage. Who knows. But it happens... a lot. Alicia Keys performed 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at Super Bowl XLVII tonight (Feb. 3), seated at a white piano in the middle of the field. We're proud to report that it was flawless, both lyrically and melodically.

It was a slower rendition than we're used to, and it had a slightly jazz vibe to it. But the 'Girl on Fire' singer nailed it from back to front.

She did add her own flourish at the end, adding an extra lyric, "Living in the land of the free and the home of the brave," at the very end. It was the custom, Alicia Keys coda and her own patented version of 'The Star-Spangled Banner.' She didn't take much in the way of liberties but she did give it a little kick. It wasn't too far-fetched, so it pretty much worked.

Keys looked beautiful in a sleeveless maroon dress and with her hair slicked back and a thick, gold choker around her neck.

She turned in a lovely and respectable version, and did her country proud.
