Looking to enjoy the annual Syracuse Christmas tree lighting? "Home for the Holidays" tree lighting is coming up on November 27th 2015.

The event begins at 6:30PM the day after Thanksgiving this year. According to the United Way CNY, each year thousands of people squish into Clinton Square to ring bells, clap and cheer as a switch is flipped and the tree lights up.

The Christmas tree lighting tradition in Syracuse dates to at least 1913 when it was held in Columbus Square. In 1933, the lighting was moved to Clinton Square. The annual tree lighting has never been cancelled because of bad weather, but it was suspended for a few years during World War II."

The event is free to attend.
