It's certainly not a huge number, but according to new figures just published by the Census Bureau, the population of New York State has dropped by nearly 2,000 people.

At the end of 2015, the state had 19,747,183 residents.  The bureau says we now have 19,745,289 people living here.  However, the Empire State still has over 367,000 more people living here than it did in 2010.

We are not alone.  Several other states in the Northeast have also saw a decline in their population during the past year.  They include Connecticut and Vermont.

Where are the people going?  According to the Census Bureau, Texas, Florida, California, Washington and Arizona are the states with the biggest increases this past year.
