The date for the New York State Cask Ale Festival in Utica has been set, and it's sure to be a fantastic afternoon filled with outdoor games, hanging out with good people, and of course sampling some delicious craft beer.

Woodland Farm Brewery in Utica posted on their Facebook Page earlier this week, announcing the big event - The 3rd Annual New York State Cask Ale Festival. The Facebook Post stated the festival is coming up on Saturday, October 13th, and that more details will be coming soon.

But that's enough to start getting excited about this fun event! Make sure you clear your calendar for that day, because you'll definitely want to make your way to Woodland Farm Brewery for this festival.

Last year I got the opportunity to experience my first cask ale festival, and it was such a great time! There were a bunch of different booths set up with different breweries (and wineries) from all across New York. I remember Good Nature was there, Saranac Brewery, Fulton Chain Brewery, and many others. But instead of just having their regular (but still delicious) craft beer creations available, they had some of their favorite beers that had been aged in bourbon barrels and served in casks. It was definitely a unique take on some of my favorite adult beverages, and I loved it!

There were different types of cheese to sample (from the "Grassy Cow Dairy" out of Remsen), which was the perfect little treat while trying these one-of-a-kind-beverages. There was also a food truck on-site, a free photo booth, and corn hole set up, to play as you pleased. Over the last few months Woodland Brewery has opened up their own kitchen, so there may be other food options available at this year's festival.

The event may be a few months away, but that doesn't mean it's too early to start planning. The 3rd Annual New York State Cask Ale Festival goes from 3pm to 6pm at Woodland Farm Brewery at 6002 Trenton Road in Utica. Tickets are not available yet (but will be soon) - Price is $45 for general admission ($50 at the door). VIP tickets will be available, which will allow you into the festival an hour earlier, a (guaranteed) commemorative Cask Ale Festival glass, and discounts on food and merchandise. Those tickets are $55. Designated driver tickets will also be available for $10.

We'll be sure to keep you updated on this year's New York State Cask Ale Festival as more information becomes available. And hopefully I'll see you out there in October!
