Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to summer, and we've got some fun ways to spend it in Upstate, New York.

1. Firelight Camps (Ithaca, New York)

If you like camping, but you don't necessarily enjoy the rough terrain that accompanies most camping experiences, then a "glamping" adventure may be what you're looking for.

We get it, you love camping, but you don't enjoy waking up with a stiff neck, or a rain drenched tent. You're in luck, Firelight Camps combines outdoor fun, and COMFORT. Instead of trying to manage your precious shut eye in a sleeping bag that's three sizes too small, try resting on a king sized bed inside your luxury tent. According to Firelightcamps.com:

Each tent includes a private balcony for soaking in the natural beauty with a good book, a fresh mug of coffee or a cocktail. We greet you in the morning with a complimentary, locally-sourced continental breakfast served in our tented lobby. During the day, we invite you to unwind on the surrounding trails of Buttermilk Falls State Park.

2. Memorial Day Celebration (Waterloo, New York)

There's no better way to pay tribute to our brave men and women in the armed forces than by visiting the town where Memorial Day got its start. 150 years ago, the special day was born in the Finger Lakes region town of Waterloo.

Memorial Day Weekend in Waterloo will  feature: the Freedom Parade, a "Meet the Presidents" press conference, live music, a car show, biker rally, a 5k run, and a slew of other events. Click HERE for a complete listing.

While you're there, also be sure and stop into the National Memorial Day Museum.

 3. Roosevelt Baths and Spa (Saratoga Springs, New York)

This legendary spa opened more than 80 years ago thanks in part to President Franklin Roosevelt. Roosevelt felt compelled to maintain the natural beauty in Saratoga, and the mineral baths were the direct result of his proactive endeavor.

A spa treatment in Saratoga is not only an excellent way to unwind and relax, but there are also lots of health benefits to soaking in an extravagant mineral bath. Check out their Facebook page for more details.

According to to IloveNY.com:

Indulge in the legendary Roosevelt Baths at Gideon Putnam Resort's New York spa. Just steps from the resort, the effervescent Roosevelt Baths in Saratoga Springs are the cornerstone of our luxury spa experience.
