New Hartford is one of 5 schools in Central New York to make Niche Inc.'s "Top 100" list.

A handful of schools in Central New York made Niche Inc's. list of best schools in the state. Here's a breakdown of the rankings:

20. Fayetteville-Manlius (Onondaga County)

39. Skaneateles (Onondaga County)

48. Jamesville-DeWitt (Onondaga County)

49. New Hartford (Oneida County)

73. Hamilton (Madison County)

The Niche survey figured in several factors including: parent opinions,college preparedness, number of students who graduate, ACT, and SAT scores, teacher quality, and student reviews. According to Syracuse.com:

Niche Inc. ranked more than 100,000 public and private schools and districts in the nation based on dozens of statistics and 27 million opinions from 300,000 students and parents The districts also were ranked nationally.

School rankings are also based the quality of extracurricular activities, solidity of policies and administration, student culture, and yes, even cafeteria food. FYI: I hear Hamilton Central has serves up some killer lunch room pizza.
