5 ‘Game of Thrones’ Beers We’d Want to Try
Cooperstown based Brewery Ommegang recently announced they would be producing a line of beers based on HBO's 'Game of Thrones.' The first beer will be an Iron Throne Blonde Ale (blonde for Lannister, of course). Considering Ommegang is just down the road from me, perhaps their brewmaster would want a few suggestions for other beers to consider.
Viserys Targaryen Molten Golden Pilsner
Rich and golden, this pilsner (which comes in a purple bottle) is sure to have a foamy crown when poured.
Robert Baratheon High Test Opus
Based on the strongest beer in the world, Schorschbrau Schorschbock 57% Finis Coronat Opus, this strong ABV beer is perfect for a drunken but lovable sot like King Robert Baratheon.
Jon Snow Pale Ice Lager
What is there at the wall but tons of ice? Even though you don't need the ice to make the beer, it's the perfect gimmick the brothers of the Night's Watch can use to market their brew throughout the Seven Kingdoms.
Sansa Stark Shandy
Sansa Stark loves lemon cakes and tarts. Her signature beverage is a lemon shandy – a beer mixed with lemonade.
Iron Islands Stout
The Greyjoys of Pyke are a hardy and unforgiving people. The perfect drink for them is a rich dark stout so thick you could chew it.
