We all have our favorite, go-to places when we're dining out. Maybe it's time to switch it up and try one of these lesser-known restaurants in Herkimer.

PK's Pub

You'll find this awesome eatery tucked away on King Street in Herkimer. From the outside it just looks like a house turned into a restaurant, but on the inside and with the amazing food, you'll know it's something more. PK's Pub is perfect for lunch or dinner, but we do suggest you try out their dinner menu. You can try a Central New York staple, their mushroom stew served over ziti. Or if you're in the mood for something savory, you have to try their "Bleu Moon Sirloin," with Gorgonzola cheese melted on top, crunchy fried onions, and horseradish. No matter what you order, you won't be leaving PK's Pub disappointed.

Dominick's

Want a quick bite to eat for lunch? Maybe you're looking for something different than the run to one of the fast-food joints in the area. Dominick's on Albany Street is the answer. They have salads, wraps, specialty sandwiches, paninis, soup, and other favorites that are perfect for a quick, but satisfying lunch. Why not try their "chicken basil panini," made with grilled chicken, tomato, mozzarella, lettuce, and basil pesto. Reviews on their Facebook Page have people raving about how fresh and flavorful all their ingredients and menu items are.

Greek Gyros

This fairly new eatery opened up in 2015, and is the go-to place for Greek cuisine in the Herkimer Area. Of course they specialize in gyros, but the also offer Greek salad, stuffed grape leaves (yum), feta spinach balls, among other delicious menu options. Plus, they prepare your gyros right in front of you, to your liking. Greek Gyros is located right on Main Street in Herkimer, so the next time you're in the area stop by and enjoy a gyro made just the way you want it.

Jamo's Restaurant and Bar

This is the perfect place to take the significant other out to dinner, or go out with a small group of friends and enjoy an amazing meal in a great atmosphere. Jamo's offers something for everyone, from chicken riggies to massive burgers, to steak dinners and seafood. We suggest you try one of their burgers. The "Herkimer General Burger" comes complete with macaroni and cheese on the burger. Or you can try their "Jamos Burger" that's stuffed with cheese and has fried pickles on top. Jamo's Restaurant and Bar can be found on Mohawk Street in Herkimer.

Vinny's Pizzeria and Restaurant

Okay, okay, okay, there are TONS of places all over Central New York to get pizza, so what makes Vinny's Pizzeria stand out? Well, let's start with the pizza. They have some unique options when it comes to this favorite. Tired of pepperoni and mushroom? Vinny's offers a "taco supreme" pizza, with taco meat, cheddar cheese, mozzarella, lettuce, olives, tomato and taco chips. They also have garlic pizza, chicken wing pizza, or you can create your own. The other thing that makes Vinny's Pizzeria stand out is the fact that you don't actually have to get pizza. They have other delicious menu items like stuffed rigatoni with spinach and ricotta, lasagna, and of course chicken riggies. And don't forget to save room for dessert. Pick up a unique pie from Vinny's Pizzeria, they're located on South Bellinger Street.
