It's been a long tough fight for Utica, but it's not over yet! The Comets are the hardest pushing team out there, and they've paid their dues. It's time for them to get what they deserve - The Calder Cup.

When I moved to Utica, the first thing I did was go to my first ever Comets game. Since then, I fell in love with the team - a tough, determined team that just keeps pushing. I've gone to a handful of games since then and every game - they're still this tough determined team. Last night's game proves that.

I know what you're thinking, 'but they lost last night.' - Yeah, that's true, they did. But were you watching how hard they kept playing. By the end of the first period they scored two goals to tie the score 2-2.

So the 2-2 score didn't hold up. Manchester added 4 more goals by the middle of the third period - with Utica still sitting at 2. Any team looking at a 4 goal difference may have given up. With the final minutes of the third period counting down, the Comets kept fighting. Will Acton was able to score a goal for Utica in the final minutes - and with the final seconds counting down another goal ALMOST landed the Comets at 4...almost (seriously, it was so close).

Now, a team being down by four and not giving up - even in the final minutes when there was no way to make a comeback - if that's not dedication, I don't know what is.

The best part of watching last night's game was after the game officially ended. A 'U-ti-ca" chant started in the stands (and was crazy loud like usual). Comets fans didn't give up on their players, and the players didn't give up on the game. That deserves the Calder Cup. Period.
