Summertime is here in Central New York, and the heat is on!

We both know how brutally cold it gets here in the winter, but temperatures can also be extremely hot too. Sometimes the Central New York heat is comparable to that of what I experienced while I was living on the West coast. I lived in Bakersfield, California for two years and summers there were nearly unbearable. The scorching, dry heat was enough to make even the most avid sunbather want to stay inside their comfy air conditioned home. People thought I was nuts because I would often jog in the 100 degree heat. Ironically, 100 miles down the road in Los Angeles it would be a perfect 75.

There's nothing like the sensation of walking out of your cool home, and into blazing dessert heat. Sometimes it got so hot there; air conditioners and swamp coolers would quit working all together. I made attempts to stay cool by wrapping a wet wash cloth around my neck. It didn't work all that well but it was better than nothing at all. Do you ever find yourself desperately clamoring for a unique way to stay cool? This guy has a neat idea!
