AAA Offers Free Car Care Clinic For October Car Care Month

Winter driving season is right around the corner and AAA is reminding drivers that many vehicles are in need of preventive maintenance before the weather turns colder.

AAA Central New York is holding a free car care clinic this Saturday at their location on 430 Court Street in Utica, where you can have a maintenance inspection from a AAA approved technician.

"Keep in mind that one of the most common causes of cold-weather breakdowns is a weak or dead battery," said Ed Welsh of AAA Central New York. "Good indicators that your battery is weak and may need replacement, include a starter motor that cranks the engine slowly when the ignition key is turned, or headlights that dim noticeably when the engine speed drops to an idle."

Welsh says the technicians will check your battery and electrical system as well as tire pressure and tread-wear.

The clinic runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. this Saturday October 1.
