Adam Lambert Performs at AT&T’s Live Proud Event Supporting the Trevor Project [VIDEOS]

Adam Lambert took to the stage at Hollywood's Playhouse club on July 3 for an event sponsored by AT&T's Live Proud campaign in support of the Trevor Project (an initiative focusing on crisis and suicide prevention in the LGBT community).

Before kicking off his mini-concert, Lambert talked about the different generations that make up today's LGBT community, telling Yahoo, "You have the older generation that believed that they had to fight and be rebellious and wave the banner really strongly and proudly — and they're the ones who've kind of paved the way for the next generation coming up, who not all of them feel as strongly about identifying so black and white."

"The younger generation doesn't always feel like you have to label yourself, because they feel like we're moving past it. But the older generation is like, 'But wait! We fought so hard for this!'" he continued. "So I think the two sides having a dialogue is a big step in trying to kind of get to the next place, which is a post-gay reality."

"We're not there yet ... but we're on our way!"

Adam had promised to sing three songs for the event, but instead wound up doing 10. The set included some of his originals, plus covers of Tears for Fears' 'Shout,' Bob Marley's 'Is This Love,' and Jimi Hendrix's 'Purple Haze' -- in which Lambert kept the oft-misheard lyric "excuse me while I kiss some guy" (instead of the correct "excuse me while I kiss the sky").

AT&T ended up awarding the Trevor Project a whopping $50,000 at the end of the night. Props all around.
