UK Adam Lambert Fans Create ‘Touch Of Sparkle’ Charity Project For Cancer Patients
Adam Lambert is known for being an inspiration to his fiercely loyal Glamberts. So much so, he's even inspired a very thoughtful group of fans in the UK to launch their very own unofficial charity project.
The aim of the campaign, called Touch of Sparkle, is to provide care packages to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Fans all around the world have donated items through the group's GoFundMe page and Amazon.co.uk wishlist, along with donations by local businesses, which are then prepared and delivered to Addenbrooke's Hospital, in conjunction with Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) in Cambridge.
"The idea is to spread a little care and humanity and try to lighten the load during this difficult stage of the patients' journey," explains the organizer of the charity project, Melanie Hersey.
The packages include practical items (ex. bed socks, tissues and herbal tea for anti-sickness), entertainment (ex. puzzle books, earphones, playing cards) and toiletries, like nail varnish, lip balm and eyebrow powder for hair loss.
And those earphones ought to come in good use: Glamberts from around the world have also donated nearly 60 copies of Lambert's latest studio album, The Original High, which are being included in the care packages delivered to the hospital.
"Our aim is simply to draw on Adam's ethos of caring and acceptance to try to spread a little sparkle to people undergoing cancer treatment and lighten their load with our care package items," she says. While the packages have been aimed primarily toward female patients, the group hopes to expand to create packages for male patients as well.
