The Affordable Care Act is the law of the land and you are now in charge of your health care. Under the law, you must have health insurance, which most of us have in some form or another. If not, it's east to enroll, here's how.

First, go to healthcare.gov, review coverage, cost and care information and from the main page select your state. When creating an account just provide some basic information. Then choose a user name, password, and security questions for added protection. From healthcare.gov: Starting today, October 1, 2013, apply by entering information about you and your family. For the best plan available include your income, household size and other details. You can use a checklist to help you gather the information you’ll need to pick the plan that's right for you. You’ll see a variety of plans and programs you’re eligible for and you can compare them side-by-side. You’ll also find out if you can get lower costs on monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs.

Enroll here. Your coverage starts as soon as January 1, 2014.
