All week we've been sharing local survivor stories as the American Heart Association gets ready for their 'Go Red for Women Luncheon and Health Fair.' In honor of this, I thought I would share a personal story with you - a survivor story from my mom.

Heart disease, heart attacks, and other heart conditions have taken their toll on so many people out there, it's almost guaranteed that there's at least one person you know, maybe someone in your family who has experienced this first hand.

Luckily in my family, my mom's story is a survivor story. How beginning warning signs, getting things taken care of, and taking steps to live a healthier life have prevented a more serious outcome later in life. This is her story.

I have to thank my mom with sharing her wonderful story with me, and everyone. And to all the local survivors who shared their stories for this great event. The American Heart Association's 'Go Red for Women Luncheon and Health Fair' is this Wednesday (May 6th).
