Back in September, Alison Pill of HBO's 'The Newsroom' made news herself by accidentally tweeting out a topless photo meant only for her fiance, actor Jay Baruchel. She handled the faux pas beautifully, and he was part of helping her diffuse the situation.

But it seems all good things must come to an end. Not only has Alison since deleted her Twitter account, the couple has called off their two-year engagement, citing the age-old excuse of a long distance relationship gone awry.

Baruchel previously hinted of a break-up in a now-deleted tweet from Feb. 16, writing, "Alone again, naturally. Heartbroken. I won't be on twitter for awhile gang. Getting dumped rules."

The 30-year-old actor and Pill, 27, met on the set of their 2010 hockey film 'Goon' and originally had big plans to wed in Quebec sometime last year. But when 2012 came and went without a ring swap, Baruchel publicly brushed the whole thing off.

“In our free time, the last thing we want to do is book flights and organize hotel rooms for people. But it'll happen at some point," he promised. Oops.

According to a source, Pill split with her Canadian fiance because while he wanted them to make their home up north, living and working in the US was a priority for her.

Bummer. But at least he'll always have those photos.
