Amanda Bynes' 72-hour 5150 psychiatric hold just got extended by another two weeks, allowing her parents (and probably her poor pooch) to breathe a sigh of relief.

One person who may not be stoked? Osama 'Sam' Lutfi, the same creep who preyed on Britney Spears during her breakdown.

TMZ reports that a judge approved Bynes' parents' and doctors' request to extend her psychiatric care for fear she'd be a danger to herself or to others if she were released.

The measure will likely be an asset to Bynes' parents as they seek a conservatorship for the troubled star, said to be showing signs of schizophrenia.

Before a conservatorship is granted, Bynes' family have to prove that she can't provide food, shelter nor clothing for herself, can't make sound financial judgments, that there are no realistic alternatives and that they can provide a stable home environment for her.

Considering she almost set herself on fire and can't get an apartment in New York City anymore, despite the strict conservatorship rules, it looks like her parents may be able to get a temporary order -- which they plan on filing to extend to a permanent order if and when it is granted.

Sources close to Bynes report that her doctors are convinced she has a severe mental illness with "schizophrenic tendencies," and that Bynes is aware that there is a "good Amanda and a bad Amanda."

Bynes is reportedly lucid, quiet and sweet for long stretches before lashing out with widened eyes and barrages of insults, occasionally needing to be physically restrained.

And before you blame drugs, consider this: Bynes tested negative for all drugs except marijuana.

A source told Radar Online, "Sam bought Amanda the plane ticket for her to return to Los Angeles from New York City. She had no money. The two became friends in recent months."

Lutfi, for the record, denied purchasing Bynes' plane ticket, but the source continued, "It's very concerning to say the very least, given Sam's history with Britney Spears leading up to her father, Jamie Spears, getting a conservatorship over his daughter, and getting a restraining order preventing Lutfi from having any contact with her."

The insider added, "Amanda should be kept very, very far away from him. She is emotionally extremely vulnerable and needs mental health help. He can come across as extremely charming and caring, but he is also very, very manipulative, and would want total control of Amanda’s life. This is the last thing she needs in her life right now."
