'American Horror Story''s definition of "scary" has run the gamut between a mish-mash of horror elements over its first three seasons, but with 'Freak Show' on the way, we've entered one of the final frontiers of true horror: clowns. In case you weren't keen on sleeping tonight, check out the worst of the worst, as 'American Horror Story' season 4 unleashes clowns and more in a few new terrifying teasers!

While we know an actual clown character will provide many of the scares for the 'Freak Show' season early on, following such similar centralized figures as season 1's "Rubber Man," 'Asylum''s "Bloody Face," and 'Coven''s minotaur, likely nothing will top FX sending in the clowns. Also, there's a man swallowing swords! That's pretty scary, right? 10:1 odds someone eviscerates themselves from the inside out this season.

Premiering Wednesday, October 8, here's how FX officially describes its fourth season 'Freak Show':

'American Horror Story: Freak Show' begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.

The new ‘Freak Show’ season will see franchise veteran Jessica Lange as Elsa Mars, a German ex-patriot running one of the last American freak shows, which includes rescued “unusuals” from the likes of ‘Coven‘ and franchise stars Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, Sarah Paulson, Denis O’Hare, Evan PetersEmma Roberts and Frances Conroy. ‘The Shield’ star Michael Chiklis will portray a strongman husband to Bassett’s character, 'The Normal Heart' stars Matt Bomer and Finn Wittrock will both take new roles, and Wes Bentley will guest in a Halloween arc.

Additionally, original 'Fargo' star John Carroll Lynch will play the season's big bad clown killer "Twisty," singer Patti LaBelle will play Gabourey Sidibe's mother, and the world's smallest woman Jyoti Amge will guest as...well, someone really small. Lest we forget, there are also the other details teased from Comic-Con 2014.

We've included the latest 'Freak Show' teasers above and below, so sleep tight and  tell us what you want to see from 'American Horror Story' season 4, the 'Freak Show' in the comments!
