Yeah, he won the nations most visible and sought-after vocal competition and is in Syracuse right now at the War Memorial getting set to wow you with the same voice and the fingers you saw on TV every Wednesday night. Now granted of course he's sharing the stage with the rest of the season's Top 10 tonight, but he deserves some special attention...

In the opinion of this blogger, just winning the American Idol title isn't enough to make you a star and I've seen several that should've been stars fall through the cracks season after season, much less remember all of the winners, but Phillip Phillips is definitely the real deal. If you haven't heard his new single 'Home' then you simply must drop everything and spend the next 3 1/2 minutes immersed in his soulful vocals, expert musicianship, and heartfelt writing. This track sounds kind of like a cross between NEEDTOBREAHE and Mumford and Sons and it's sure to take you to a different place. My kids and I are still humming the hook...

Like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry before him, we will definitely remember his name long after we first heard it on Idol because a star is made up of more than just musical talent. Being in the presence of a girl like Kelly or a guy like Phil makes you feel as if you've known them all along even though you just 'met' because they are just as real onstage as they are off of it. There are very few artists who are authentic and that has a way of helping you deal with rough times in your life through identification while at the same time inspiring you to go higher. Spend an evening with Phillip and be a part of his history (and yours) just now in the making...
