Punxsutawney Phil and Staten Island Chuck agreed: Spring will come early this year!
Though several local groundhogs - including Malverne Mel on Long Island - canceled their forecasts due to the stormy weather, Chuck made his appearance just after 7:15 a.m. and in Pennsylvania, the famous Punxsutawney Phil also failed to see his shadow this morning.
According to NY Daily News, Staten Island Chuck has correctly predicted the season's outcome 24 out of the last 30 Winters.
Mayor Bloomberg made the big announcement.
