It's the grand opening of "Focus," on Bleecker Street in Utica! "Focus" is a combination of everything you need to get out, relax, and have a good time - a bar, an art venue, and a waffle house - all in one. The new "Focus" will also have artwork on display from local artists. You can get lost in the beautiful images of the artwork while having a few drinks, or if you enjoy it so much, you can actually purchase it.

To kick off the grand opening celebrations, a special event "Art & Funk," will be taking place this Friday (April 10), from 7pm to 10pm. "Art & Funk" is a night of entertainment with artwork for sale from local artists, food and drink specials, and music from "Funkadelic Conception." The event is free and is being hosted by "Made In Utica."

The group "Made In Utica" works with local businesses and organizations and connects them with the people in Utica and Central New York. They are a positive organization that wants people to see the greatness of our community and everything it has to offer. According to madeinutica.com, their co-founder Justin Parkinson says,

“We want to change the perception of our city. With renewed interest in downtown preservation we feel this event is a perfect way for the community to help re-launch a local business while supporting local artists,”

"Made In Utica" has it right! This is the perfect way to connect the community with a local business, and bring that welcoming, upbeat feel to the downtown Utica area. Come join in on the fun and celebrate the grand opening of "Focus" this Friday (April 10). The party starts at 7pm and you do have to be at least 21 years old to get in. Enjoy music, enjoy artwork, and enjoy a great event with great people!
