Year after year, the same old 'Evil Dead' sequel and remake rumors get the chainsaw gears grinding from the likes of Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi, but nothing groovy ever comes of it. Well hail to the king, baby, as the 'Evil Dead' franchise is alive and well on Starz, with Campbell to headline a new 'Ash Vs. Evil Dead' series in 2015, and Sam Raimi returning to direct!

Per Starz's official announcement, Campbell will return to the iconic role of Ash for 10 half-hour episodes to air in 2015, with Raimi coming on board to direct and co-write the first installment. Also involved in the project is original filmmaker Rob Tapert, who will executive produce alongside Raimi. Here's how Starz describes the new series:

Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

Adds Raimi:

Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.

And Bruce himself:

I'm really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide - it's going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor.

For those unfamiliar with the original 'Evil Dead,' the film followed Campbell's Ash and friends as they visit a woodland cabin, where they accidentally release demons intent on possessing the living. The film spawned two sequels and countless tie-ins, as well as the recent 2013 reboot.

Quite a bit to take in for the moment, but what say you? Are you ecstatic by the prospect of Bruce Campbell's return to 'Ash Vs. Evil Dead?' How would you want to see the series unfold when Starz brings forth its unholy terror in 2015?
