The biggest problem with the concept of 'Ghostbusters 3' is the fact that 'Ghostbusters' still very much exists and is pretty much perfect. This fact will be reconfirmed when the original is re-released later this summer as part of the film's 30th anniversary celebration, which will also include a new Blu-ray release.
The Memorial Day weekend brought with it the third Marvel superhero movie of 2014 and like 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2,' 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' opened to over $90 million at the box office. Sure, people online keep on wondering if audiences are getting tired of comic book films, but the box office keeps on saying otherwise.
Well, this is an unexpected and perfect surprise: the latest internet buzz suggests that the absolutely brilliant 'Gravity' director Alfonso Cuaron is in talks to helm the Harry Potter spin-off 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.' Take all of this with a grain of salt until an official announcement arrives, but it's difficult to imagine a more perfect choice for the job.
Colin Firth is normally the last actor you'd imagine playing a suave and deadly secret agent in the James Bond mold, but he looks right at home in the trailer for 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' (formally known just as 'The Secret Service'). The Oscar-winning actor appears to be brilliantly cast against type in the Matthew Vaughn film, which sees a veteran super-spy taking a young delinquent under his wing and training him to be England's next great secret defender.
After years of development, 'Blade Runner 2' finally appears to be happening. Well, by "happening," we mean that director Ridley Scott and the Alcon production company are officially seeking to bring original star Harrison Ford back into the fold.
Movie theaters tickets have gotten steadily more expensive over the years, but this takes the proverbial cake: a Canadian theater chain has announced a new program where moviegoers will have to pay a surcharge to sit in the middle seats of each row. You'll soon have to pay an additional $2-$3 to sit in the "prime" seats, ensuring that you'll have the (supposed) best view of the screen and that you'll be isolated from all of the riffraff in the cheap seats.
The saga of Harry Potter may have come to a definitive end with 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,' but his mysterious wizarding world will live on! We already knew that original Potter Author J.K. Rowling would be making her screenwriting debut with upcoming spinoff film 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,' but now we know when we'll be able to see the movie!
'Transformers 4' is purportedly a soft reboot of the franchise, setting up an entirely new set of adventures and carrying on with a mostly new human cast. However, director Michael Bay is still at the helm, so it's no surprise it still, for better or worse, feels like the same thing. You already know if that delights or horrifies you, and the latest TV spots aren't going to change your mind.
'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day' may be on the most unwieldy titles of any film set for release in 2014, but that's pretty much the point. Based on Judith Viorst and Ray Cruz's celebrated children's book of the same name, the film takes a very simple premise (the title character has a really awful day) and extends it into a big family friendly comedy filled with names like Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner. The first trailer from the film has arrived and we'll let you decide whether or not it's an assault on your childhood.
Just when you thought vampires were completely played out thanks to the likes of 'Twilight' and 'Dark Shadows,' the 'What We Do in the Shadows' trailer shows up and reminds us that there's plenty of life left in the undead. Starring and co-written by 'Flight of the Conchords' comic Jemaine Clement, this comedy takes typical vampire tropes and flings them into the modern day with (hopefully) hilarious results.
Most of of the 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' clips and trailers have so far focused on the film's large ensemble of new and returning mutant superheroes, while the main villain, Peter Dinklage's Bolivar Trask, remains out of the spotlight. Though our latest look doesn't exactly give us a clear indication of what kind of character he is, it does give us a chance to see him come fact to face with Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique in a pretty cool action scene.
It's happened: they've officially announced the cast of 'Star Wars: Episode 7.' We knew that original trilogy stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher would be returning to the roles that made their careers, but it's the new cast members that have us really excited. It's going to be nice to see Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa reunited on the big screen, but it's going to be truly exciting to see what characters director J.J. Abrams will create from scratch.
The new cast members are a fantastic combo of established character actors, on-the-rise stars, living legends and complete unknowns. But, just in case you aren't familiar with them we've assembled a basic primer. Here's what you need to know about each of the new additions to the 'Star Wars' universe!
