Retailer Kmart announced that it will be changing the name of plus-sized women's clothing to 'Fabulously-Sized.'

I just can't even.

On the one hand, I can see how you might not like the name 'plus-sized' but enough to demand a change to 'fabulous'? What about ladies that wear sizes 8, 10 or 12? Aren't we fabulous, too? Are we going to start calling petites 'fun-sized'? Big and Tall 'Handsome and Brawny'?

When we demand to have a name changed because it makes us feel bad, aren't we just buying into the idea that retail labels and sizes define us? I've certainly had days where the number on the size label on my jeans made me unhappy, but I didn't ask for it to be changed, and I definitely didn't let it stop me from buying a pair of jeans that made my butt look good.

Let me put it this way: you don't need anyone to tell you you're fabulous. You just are - and it most certainly doesn't have anything to do with the size of your clothes.

The noun "plus" is defined as an advantage, a bonus, an asset or extra. To all the ladies wearing a size called plus: you're a "decided advantage." Darn right.
