If you're looking for a great activity this weekend, there's a cool event going on in New York Mills that will benefit kids and bring families together. It's a Central New York observation of Independent Bookstore Day.

As a way to encourage local children to read, independent local children's bookstore The Treehouse Reading & Arts Center, is celebrating National Independent Bookstore Day with exclusive offers, discounts, refreshments, and special events all day! Here are the bullet-point details of the event:

WHEN: Saturday, April 28, 201810:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The mission of The TreeHouse Reading and Arts Center is to offer a comfortable learning environment designed for growing readers, engaging minds, and enriching lives. The Treehouse offers reading tutoring, music lessons, reading and writing clubs, and school break camps, among other educational programming.

Independent Bookstore Day is a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April.  Every store is unique and independent, and every party is different. The Treehouse Reading and Arts Center is the only independent bookstore in the Mohawk Valley and welcomes families to come and enjoy.

In lieu of an entry fee, each attendee is encouraged to bring a children's book in good condition to donate to the Literacy Coalition of Herkimer and Oneida Counties for use in their EZ Read Community Bookshelves program.
