Big Upgrades Underway At The Utica Solid Waste Authority
I managed to visit with family and friends in both Buffalo and New Jersey along with getting some serious Spring cleaning while on vacation this week. One highlight of cleaning was a visit to the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority. Underway right now is a 10 million dollar upgrade project for the facility, and that is good news for Utica.
I learned while chatting with the attendant overseeing the bins that the recycling center and the eastern transfer station are currently being upgraded to work more efficiently. He also told me that students from Rome schools have toured the facilities recently and it’s inspired them to live a more ‘green’ lifestyle.
If your like me and have Spring cleaning planned in the near future, here is a link to their hours of operation and a list of what you can and cannot dispose of. I dropped off some old paint and a football seasons worth of chicken wing cooking oil. They’re located at 80 Leland Ave. Extension
