Mackenzie Wells from Sherrill is turning nine soon. While most children that age would be excited about what birthday gifts they'll receive, Mackenzie wants to forgo the presents and give the money to the Brown family.

Mackenzie Wells goes to E.A. McAllister Elementary School, loves Mrs. Buckingham's science class, and has a huge heart. She's giving up her birthday gifts to help the Brown family who lost their daughter in a house fire in Vernon Sunday, April 3. Mackenzie has a mature sense of compassion that most 8-year-olds don't yet possess.

Mackenzie told us that even though she didn't know Zoey, she wants to help the family who lost everything in the fire. She says's she has enough (toy's) and is glad she has a mom, dad, and sister that love her.

Mackenzie's mom, Lee Ann, say's they've been talking about the fire, and so has the school. She just realized she has so much, and now there's a family and children that are in need. She understands this is the right thing to do. "I really hope it inspires other kids to do the same...as well as show her not only how good it feels inside to helps others but also that she should be proud of her decisions and feelings."
