Burned Plastic Stinks, So Don’t Forget To Read Those Care Instructions

I recently bought some new kid’s plastic spoons, which I washed in the dishwasher. What a disaster. The problem was I hadn’t bothered to read the “care” instructions on the back of the package. The instructions which said the spoons should only be placed on the top dishwasher rack. I had put them on the bottom rack and went to bed. About forty minutes later I awoke to the smell of smoke. A couple of the spoons had melted and the smell was awful. If you’ve ever smelled burning plastic, you know exactly what I mean. Yuck. The smell inside the dishwasher has finally gotten better and I’ve learned my lesson. Read the labels.
