200 Mistreated Chihuahuas Rescued from Pennsylvania Home

More than 200 Chihuahuas were removed from a Benton, Pennsylvania home yesterday after officials deemed the environment dangerous to the dogs’ well-being. While it’s a terribly sad story to be sure, at least the internet community can breathe a sigh of relief that it wasn’t corgis.
According to the Pennsylvania Agriculture Department, dog wardens and state police served a search warrant at the home and removed hundreds of dogs, many of which were sick or dead. It’s likely that police will charge the owners with animal cruelty.
The mistreated dogs are currently being held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg and will be sent to shelters on Friday, where they’ll be evaluated by veterinarians for adoption.
Mike Pechart, the official who oversees dog law enforcement at the Agriculture Department, called the incident “an unfortunate situation of animal hoarding,” which, if you think about it, seems to be putting it mildly.
