‘Chillax’ Named One of the Most Important Words in English Language
In other depressing news, an Honorary Professor of Linguistics has gone ahead and put “chillax” on the list of the 100 words that have helped define the English language throughout history. Lord help us all, we thought people only said it as a joke to make fun of the people who actually say it (who don’t actually exist, right?).
Professor David Crystal, from the University of Wales, has decided that “chillax,” along with “LOL” reflect where the English language is currently and where it might be going. Other words on this list include street, tea and hello. To represent dumb old Shakespeare’s day, he picked totally stupid words like “alphabet” and “potato.”
HA! Waaaaay less significant than chillax. LOL! JK! OMG what is happening to all of us?!!!!!! Meh, whatevs.
