Now that the holidays are over, you may be wondering what to do with the browning mess of bark and needles that was once your Christmas Tree.  The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority will take your tree for composting into mulch.

The composting site for Central New York is located in Utica at the OHSWA's Leland Ave Extension site.

Here's how to recycle your tree

1-Remove all ornaments, lights and other decorations.

2-Check local municipalities for Christmas tree collection schedules

OR

3-Drop trees off at the Collection center at 70 Leland Ave in Utica.  There is no fee for dropping off the green waste.

Note: the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority does not accept wreaths due to the amount of wire used in making them.
