Well, maybe it wasn't an act of God, but police in Binghamton don't know what caused an SUV to jump the curb and crash into the First Baptist Church.  It happened just before 10 on Sunday morning, while the 9:30 worship service was in progress.

"It sounded like a bomb went off" is what one church goer told the Press and Sun Bulletin.   She added "The building shook and you could hear glass shoot out everywhere."  Witnesses said the Rav4 shot across the street and straight into the church.  The driver, a 69-year-old woman, was taken to a Binghamton hospital.  No word on her injuries.  No one inside the church was harmed.

The church's pastor said that a Sunday school class that was in session at the time of the crash, had been moved to a different location in the church about a month ago.  Otherwise the teacher and students would have been very close to where the SUV crashed into the building.
