Most people apply for their dream job the old-fashioned way: cover letter, resume, and references. Dawayne Kirkland took things a step further. He created a rap-plication video - and it's gone viral.

Dawayne is a 23-year-old graphic designer working for Turning Stone Casino. While he really enjoys his job, he's had his sights set on working for Gary Vaynerchuk's VaynerMedia, based in NYC. Vaynerchuk has a huge social media presence, posting daily videos and social media content as GaryVee. When Dawayne saw a video from GaryVee saying they were hiring, he knew he would need to stand out from the thousands who would apply.

After submitting the traditional application, Dawayne turned to his other passion to really set himself apart: rapping. Through his rap, Dawayne explains why he's is the best person for the job, and at the same time, shows just how creative he is. YouTube viewers agree, because in the week since he's uploaded the video, he's gotten 1.2 million views. Wow.

Dawayne told Beth and Dave that he never expected the video to go viral, and in fact, he wasn't really looking for the attention. "I was trying to keep it as hush-hush as possible because I didn't want people to know I applied for another job," Dawayne says.

So what's the outcome?

Well, Dawayne has an interview with VaynerMedia scheduled for Monday, October 9. We'll keep you updated on how that goes. Until then, our hats are off to this young man and his creativity.
