No more pencils, no more books...it's summer vacation. It's the kids favorite part of the year, but for parents, the magic wears off quickly.

A new study of 2,000 parents says that mom and dad are over the whole "summer break" thing about 13 days into it. The reason? The pressure to keep the kids entertained. Turns out, there's a lot riding on making sure the kids have a great summer.

I don't know about you, but when I was a kid, we went OUTSIDE during the summer. The most my mom did was feed us breakfast - she definitely didn't think of herself as our entertainment coordinator.

According to the same study, 58% of parents feel like they need to figure out activities for the entire summer, and 64% of parents say they feel like they've let their kid down if they don't come up with enough "good" activities for them to do.

SO what are most parents doing to keep the kids busy?

  1. Amusement parks (check out Darien Lake this summer.)
  2. Movies (Marquee Cinemas has FREE movies for kids all summer long.)
  3. Zoo (Of course you need to visit the Utica Zoo.)
  4. Bowling
  5. Camping (Want to know what bring for a camping trip?)

How about you? Do you agree - is summer vacation blissful or stressful for you?
