Yesterday I was on my way to visit some friends in Rome when out of nowhere a beautiful rainbow appeared.

I wish the picture showcased the natural beauty a little better because it appeared to be a giant double rainbow. If you look to the left of the photo you'll notice the other faint colors.

Just Jenn told me that she's only seen a double rainbow once in her lifetime. This was one of the most vibrant one's I've ever seen.  Perhaps the rainbow is symbolic of the good things that are happening here in the Mohawk Valley.

What exactly causes a double rainbow? According to Accuweather:

A ray of sunlight passes through a raindrop, reflecting off the back of the drop at varying angles.Along with this reflection is refraction of light that causes of a spectrum of colors-- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.Certain angles and "bending" reflect light better for refraction to occur, and the amount of light refraction corresponds to wavelength and color.

The picture doesn't do the rainbow justice actually. When I saw it yesterday I was almost as impressed as the guy in this video.

Recently I was fortunate enough to see this awesome "Rainbow" on Varick Street in Utica. He wasn't taking requests that night but he was just as colorful as I imagined he would be.
