The seal for the village of Whitesboro has faced a lot of criticism lately for it's depiction of the wrestling match between founder Hugh White and a Native American. After negative national attention the village has decided to do something about it.

Whitesboro Mayor Pat O'Connor was contacted directly by both "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" and "The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore." He was asked by both programs to do a segment on the Village of Whitesboro and the controversy over the seal. If one of the two shows was to be involved, O'Connor wanted to make sure something good came out of it. He decided to come up with the plan on leaving it up to the voters with whether or not they wanted the seal to change and if so, what the new one would be. In fact the "Daily Show" graphic designers were the ones who came up with the ideas for the four new designs. The vote that is taking place tonight is actually being filmed for the segment to air at a later date on the show.

To address the concerns of those who find the longtime seal offensive the local government sent out postcards to residents of the village informing them of a vote that takes place today (January 11th 2016). They have the option to vote on keeping the current seal or voting on 1 of 4 replacement seals. The following four photos are the options for the new seal.

Some say, "Why leave it to a vote?" The history of the village is important to it's residence and that is one of the big reasons Whitesboro mayor, Pat O'Connor, feels this is the best route to take. Residents have the opportunity to vote on the new seal between 6-9 p.m. tonight. What do you think?

The above alternate seals are numbered in the gallery #1-4. We want to know what you think. Vote in the poll below for your preference.
