The community continues to honor Kane Buss, the Oneida teen killed by a drunk driver. Family, friends and law enforcement came together for the Oneida County Stop DWI High School Baseball Classic Tournament that was played in memory of Buss.

Every year, the Oneida County Stop DWI organization puts on a baseball tournament, inviting local high school teams to play as they bring awareness and knowledge to the community about distracted and drunk driving.

Kane's brother Dalton threw out the first pitch before the Oneida vs VVS game to Brad Mallinder behind the plate, who happens to be one of the many close friends of Kane and the Buss family.

Jen Peters who is family friend and took all the photos from the event said it was special evening. "family and friends were given the chance to share what a wonderful young man Kane was and all the important impacts he had on the community in his lifetime."

Dalton and his family were presented with a commemorative baseball bat, and a $250 check for the Kane Buss Scholarship Fund.

The Oneida Police Department, Rome Police Department, Utica Police Department and the Oneida County Sheriff's Department each sent a law enforcement officer to be part of the honor/color guard. Kane had a job waiting at the Rome Police Department after his graduation which unfortunately he never got to accept, but they continue to honor him and even made Kane an honorary officer.
