This is a big weekend in central New York for college graduations, and we would like to congratulate the all local grads and their families on this accomplishment. Check out the college commencements going on in our area this weekend.

Mohawk Valley Community College - Friday, May 16

"On Friday, May 16, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Commencement exercises will be held for the Class of 2014 at the Utica Memorial Auditorium, 400 Oriskany Street West, Utica, NY for all degree and certificate candidates; December 2013, May 2014 and August 2014. Herkimer Count Community College - Friday, May 16

PrattMWP - Friday, May 16

She is the daughter of CSE alumna, Dr. Barbara Sorvino, a pediatrician, who graduated from College of Saint Elizabeth in 1954."

Gloria Borger '74, P'10Gloria Borger ’74, P’10, chief political analyst for CNN and a member of the first coeducational class to graduate from Colgate, will deliver the keynote address at Colgate’s 193rd commencement on Sunday, May 18, in Sanford Field House.

Borger is CNN’s chief political analyst, appearing daily on The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, The Lead with Jake Tapper, and across CNN’s prime time programs. Since joining the network in 2007, she has reported on a variety of political and breaking news topics ranging from the death of Osama bin Laden the 2013 government shutdown. She was a prominent analyst during CNN’s election night coverage. She writes a regular column for CNN.com."

Travis Roy

Travis Roy is a powerful motivational speaker and a former college ice hockey player for Boston University. On October 20, 1995 – just eleven seconds into his first-ever shift for Boston University men's ice hockey team – a 20-year-old Roy slid head-first into the boards, cracking his fourth vertebra and leaving him a quadriplegic. That fateful October night in 1995 signaled the death of one dream - but also the eventual rebirth of a special kind of hope. Although imprisoned for months in a hospital bed, then confined to a wheelchair, Travis gradually found the grit and the will to reclaim for himself a fulfilling and productive life. Roy and Sports Illustrated writer E.M. Swift wrote his autobiography, Eleven Seconds."
