Utica's newest Stewart's Shop is set to open it's doors on Culver Ave Next Wednesday, November 9, followed by a Grand Opening ribbon cutting on Friday, November 18.

As part of the grand opening on the 18th, Stewart's will be donating $1,000 to the Mt. Carmel East Utica Little League, and another $1,000 to the Central New York Conservancy for new trees at Proctor Park.

"There have been a few stumbling blocks , but we are thrilled to finally join the East Utica community," Said Stewart's Shops President Gary Dake. "Stewart's will provide our customers quality, value, and a friendly place to shop. We hope to make their shopping experience in Utica even easier."

Stewart's plans to open a store in East Utica began in 2014, but were held up by legal delays due to concerns from local residents.

Stewart's Shops is building a total of 17 stores across its market areas in 2016, including two more locations in Oneida County, on Middle Settlement Road in New Hartford and Route 233 in Westmoreland.

"I am pleased Stewart's Shops is opening their second store in Utica," said Utica Mayor Rob Palmieri. "I think Gary and his staff for being committed to this project and our community. Stewart's is a terrific family owned business and as Mayor I welcome them with open arms."

The Grand Opening ceremony on the 18th will also include specials on Stewart's products, giveaways, and an ice cream eating contest.
