Cyndi Lauper Messes Up The National Anthem [VIDEO]
September 12, 2011 9:06 AM Oops looks like it’s Cyndi Lauper’s turn to pull a Christina Aguilera! She flubbed “The National Anthem” at the U.S. Open in New York. Cyndi took the court after a moment of silence in honor of 9-11 but got the lyrics to the “Star Spangled Banner” wrong.
Cyndi sang, “O’er the ramparts, we watched as our flag was still streaming.” The real line for the song goes, “O’er the ramparts we watch’d were so gallantly streaming.”
I figured that since Christina Aguilera famously messed up the lyrics of the national anthem at last years Super Bowl, artists would have the lyrics displayed in view so that this wouldn’t happen again. Guess I figured wrong.
