Dark Dining To Benefit the Central Association for the Blind & Visually Impared Has a New Addition
Close your eyes and count to 30. Dark isn’t it? Now imagine living your whole life like that; in the dark. The Central Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired, is bringing back Dark Dining to ‘provide sighted people with a better understanding of the challenges faced by people who are blind.’
If you’ve never attended Dark Dining, you don’t know what you’re missing. Tadpole & I took part the first year we were in town and loved every minute of it. What a great idea. We enjoyed trying to guess what we were eating as each dish was served. Sadly, we only guessed the salad correct.
Dark dining is the CABVI’s major yearly fundraiser with delicious food, cooked by a chef from France and new this year, an art gallery. 6 pieces of artwork will be on display from artist who are visually impaired. Event chairperson Joan Grande says one piece of work ‘will blow everyone away.’ All pieces will be sold in a silent auction.
Dark Dining is being held at Yahnundasis Country Club in New Hartford for the second year in a row. Senator Joe Griffo also returns to be the Master of Ceremonies. A cocktail hour will be held at 6pm with dinner at 7:15pm on October 20th. A dinner that Joan has already tasted and says is an ‘event for the taste buds.’
