Daylight Saving Time Is Sunday – Set Your Clocks Ahead And It’ll Cost You More Than Just An Hour Of Sleep!
Yeah, the worst day ever is tomorrow because of Daylight Saving Time dictating that we set our clocks ahead and if you thought having a case of the Mondays was bad, not only are we losing an hour of sleep, we can also lose money too believe it or not, to the tune of $434 MILLION dollars! As if we needed another reason to be miserable next week! Yeah, probably because everyone’s sucking down mad coffee trying to wake up!
Well, not really, but that number is based on a different expenditure over and above our “Running on Dunkin” for the next bunch of days! This estimate is based on lost productivity because everyone is dragging ass and is more likely to injure themselves or have a heart attack next week, which is costly. According to the SleepBetter Lost-Hour Economic Index, we will each lose $1.65 on the average nationwide, which isn’t anywhere near bad, but still! The U.S. town that loses the most per person are the residents of Morgantown, WV, a huge mining town. (man, weird stuff be going down in that state last couple of days!) and good ole’ Utica-Rome rolls in at #177 on the 360 city list, and we’ll each have to shell out an extra $1.78 on March 10th.
Interesting, I think we’d all be flipping out if that decimal was moved to the right a little, but I’d be happy to pay much more than that for a coffee IV that week if someone would freaking invent the dang thing. Well, raise your Styrofoam cups and let’s cheers to November 3rd when we can regain that hour and our $1.78! And all of you living in Hawaii and Arizona, you suck cause your shiny states don’t take part in this dastardly holiday! Plane tix please?
