A young woman named Poot could soon prove to be the least of Demi Lovato's worries: Sleigh Bells claim the "Cool For The Summer" singer completely ripped off their catalog to record her new song, "Stars," and the similarities are all too apparent to some Twitter users.

Yesterday (November 2), Alexis Krauss and Derek Edward Miller—the Brooklyn noise-pop duo whose most recent album, Bitter Rivals, was released in 2013—very publicly called Lovato out on Twitter. ".@ddlovato Demi Lovato flattered you guys sampled Infinity Guitars & Riot Rhythm for 'Stars' but we were not contacted. Gotta clear those," they stated. The web-equivalent to gloves are off!

While die-hard Lovatics predictably cried foul (".@sleighbells do you need a hearing test? Your songs sound nothing similar to stars," one user wrote), many others could detect similarities at first listen ("...the drums are exactly the same. open your poorly working tweenage ears.").

Lovato has yet to respond to the claims, but the producers of the song — Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub — have done so to Billboard: "We did not use any samples in Demi Lovato's song 'Stars.' Demi was also not involved with the production. She only wrote top line."

And now, so have Sleigh Bells' rep, who told Rolling Stone "I can confirm that the band feels their music has been sampled without proper clearance and are seeking all available remedies with [Lovato's record label] Island Records."

Thanks to YouTube and streaming services, the public can decide for itself if "Stars" (or, at least its percussion undercurrent) is, indeed a little fraudulent.
