Explosion at Toon Town at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California

The Toon Town attraction is closed at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California this evening after what's being called a 'dry ice explosion.'

Preliminary reports say that dry ice in a water bottle placed in a trashcan is the cause of the explosion.

What happens when you drop dry ice into a water bottle? Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide (CO2). When the dry ice hits water, the solid converts to carbon dioxide gas. The gas expands beyond the ability to be held within the plastic. There are videos of the 'science experiment' on YouTube.
