Eric Says: Build The Oneida Square Roundabout
The city of Utica earlier this week held an informational meeting about the plans to build a roundabout at Oneida Square. Count me in as a supporter.
What a boondoggle that area can be. Think about the fact that you have traffic from 5 different streets (Genesee, Plant, State, Oneida and Park) converging there and trying to go off in different directions. It's a mess to figure out, especially if you're not a native. The roundabout will make traversing the streets much easier in all directions.
The conceptual drawing is gorgeous; it appears to be a view looking southbound from State Street. I really like how it opens up the Soldiers and Sailors monument to the public. As it stands now, you'd be dodging traffic to have a look, but the idea of a surrounding park is great!
