America Online was the first social network -- remember Buddy lists? -- paving the way for Friendster, MySpace, Twitter and the focus of the above retro ad, Facebook. The video is like a time capsule from 1995, with the massive computer monitor, the onscreen fonts and the idea that 10 free hours was some kind of huge deal.

We don't know why they skipped over the obvious joke of including a CD-ROM coming in the mail, though. (Maybe it was too obvious.) And there's no way that bikini picture would appear so fast. Those things used to take forever to download.
