The Memorial Parkway in Utica is arguably the city's most famous street. It also boasts some terrific views and an intriguing series of monuments - 14 of them to be exact. The Central New York Conservancy and the Utica Children's Museum have teamed up to host a special walk on The Parkway, including a tour of some of those monuments along the way.

The CNY Conservancy is a non-profit group based in Utica. According to their website, their mission is to:

Preserve and enhance the natural environment and features of current or historical significance through design, promoting the widest possible range of beneficial uses. (CNY Conservancy)

They have lots of events throughout the year focusing on the beauty and use of our local park system. This unique event is a great way to get the family back outside and walking, but it's also an excellent opportunity to learn a little more about the history of Utica.

The walk will be held from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, March 18, 2017. It starts at Utica's Statue of Liberty, which is across from the Rec Center parking lot. The walk will head East along the Parkway to Valley View Road, with some options for additional hikes through the Switchbacks and Roscoe Conkling Park.
