It's another "Firefighter Friday." This week we're proud to feature Christopher Smith of the New York Mills Fire Department. His nominator had some wonderful things to say about him.

We did things a little different than we normally do for this week's "Firefighter Friday." Cheryle Vangorder sent in the nomination for Christopher Smith, and we wanted to share some of what she wrote. In the nomination form, Cheryle included...

Chris is truly a genuinely caring person. There have been many times where he would rush out in the middle of dinner to go on a call even though it wasn't his full time job.

It's wonderful to hear that a volunteer firefighter would treat it like a full time job (and we're sure many, MANY firefighters we've talked to treat it that way). It just adds to how much they do in the community and in their lives. They are able to hold a full time job AND volunteer for such a courageous and important cause. And on top of that, a lot of the firefighters we've talked to are also busy with their family lives as well. We've said it before and we'll say it again, how do they find the time to do ALL that?!

Cheryle also had more to say about Chris in the nomination form. She wrote,

His daughter thinks he's the best because he helps the community. He deserves a nomination!

And Cheryle is right, he does deserve a nomination for what he does. Firefighting is no easy task, and we're so happy for all the volunteers who do this, and all the firefighters who do this as their job.

Thank you again Chris, for all that you do as a firefighter and all that you do in the community.

If you know a firefighter that you think deserves recognition for what they do, you can nominate them to be featured on "Firefighter Friday" at the link below:
