After nearly 2 weeks of public outcry, US flags will be reinstalled on fire engines in the town of Poughkeepsie.  The flags were taken off the trucks on August 16th.

Fire commissioners in the Arlington Fire District ordered the flags removed based on concerns for the safety of fire fighters and motorists.  Some thought a flying flag was a hazard on a truck speeding to a fire.

But the public has voiced their displeasure over the removal of the flags, and they are coming back.  An agreement will allow smaller American flags on the district's most frequently used trucks.  A large flag will be allowed on one firetruck.
